People, in this materialistic world, hanker after success, wealth, name, fame and what not. Ninety nine percent of these people are doomed to oblivion. Only people with a positive attitude or outlook will withstand the test of time. They are the ones, who never fret or falter under any circumstances and, always look at the brighter side of Life. These people, having realized the importance of cultivating a positive attitude, are normally possessed with a sound character, succeed in life and are remembered, kept alive in the mind of posterity.,

Positive attitude and Character go hand in glove. People, with a sound character, are generally the ones with a positive attitude or vice versa. Gandhi, India’s Father of the Nation; South Africa’s former President and a lifelong crusader of apartheid, Nelson Mandela and back home in Bhutan, the living legend, HM Jigme Singye Wangchuck have won many hearts the world over with their positive attitude backed up by rock-solid characters. These noble souls have performed great deeds of unimaginable proportions for their countries, thereby displaying the nobility of their characters. Gandhi almost single-handedly brought India freedom; Mandela, inspired by Gandhi’s example, freed South Africa from the apartheid regime, and In Bhutan, the fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck set a precedent of some sort by initiating the Constitution for Democracy! The fact of the matter is, most often the successful people are the ones with a noble character coupled with a positive attitude.

There can be no denying the fact that positive attitude makes people successful in life. History is replete with the stories of heroic personalities, who succeeded mainly due to their positive attitude. Take Abraham Lincoln, America’s former President for an example. He was known for his impeccable attitude. He contested in numerous elections (Vice-Presidential, Presidential and so on), time and again, but failures were his rewards. His positive attitude did not deter him and finally he won the Presidential election by a landslide margin! In Bhutan, both the former Lyenchen, Jigme Y. Thinley and the present incumbent of the post, Lyenchen Tshering Topgay have made their marks in the affairs of the world, due mainly to their positive attitude and outlook. This great quality has not only made them very popular in their own country but also role-models to be looked up to and revered. In a recently released report in Forbes magazine, Bhutan’s premiere, Tshering Topgay, has been declared as one of the Top-50 leaders of the world. He was the Opposition Leader for 5 years and his positive attitude as a tireless worker for the betterment of the Tsa-Wa-Sum made him a heartthrob of the people. His skyrocketing popularity has earned him the enviable distinction of being a role model for the masses. This goes to prove that positive attitude can go a long way into making a person internationally acclaimed and a role model as well.

All said and considered, it can be safely opined that developing a positive attitude helps a man not only to be successful but also someone to be looked up to and emulated. Can there be any doubt then that the success mantra of the 21^st century world lies in cultivating a positive attitude?
